Dear wandering travelers, please come near.
Rest the night, sit close to the blaze.
This is a tale of yore, that all must hear
Before going into the woods behind: The Forest Maze.

It is a land enchanted, with distorted time,
Where all blends as one, blurring the gaze
Of lost wanderers, and captures with verdure's chime
Forever. This is the power of The Forest Maze.

Those who enter are lost to its will.
They'll travel in its walls, walking for days
Mesmerized, until silent Death's chill
Claims their soul. Thus, the greatness of The Forest Maze.

But there was one with strong enough will,
Who did not fall victim to endless daze,
And was able to block the cries so shrill
Of the Lost, and cross The Forest Maze.

He was a small man, with no distinct features,
But of true courage, his heart was ablaze.
He'd heard of this maze and its lost creatures;
And so, he entered into The Forest Maze.

The fog had thickened when deep within,
The trees seemed to move, making new pathways.
And among the green shadows were many grins,
Waiting for the poor soul to be lost in The Forest Maze.

But the small fellow pressed on nonetheless,
Searching for the exit among the greens and grays.
In the Abyss, all he could do was guess
His way through, out of The Forest Maze.

Time was lost, and there, Eternity set.
Not even the warm touch of the Sun's rays
Could penetrate that cage of flora. No hope, no rest;
All who entered faded into The Forest Maze.

But in this despair, his pure heart stayed true.
He never lost hope, eyes never fell aglaze.
He held his head high, and he always knew,
With courage in hand, he'd escape The Forest Maze.
Days and days passed in liquid-like flow.
When suddenly, in the labyrinth's haze,
Pained wails rose, with pale lights' glow:
These were the Lost of The Forest Maze.

They screeched and sighed, they wailed and cried:
"Another poor soul whose sights don't amaze!
Here, we paid for our weaknesses and died.
Your fate is sealed within The Forest Maze!"

But the man did not run from the forgotten Fated.
He simply walked forward. No fear, no craze
Coloured his features. He called to them and stated:
"Follow me. We shall leave The Forest Maze."

Such a statement! Brave and bold!
The Lost were shocked: "He truly displays
What we lacked." And so they followed
He who promised freedom from The Forest Maze.

The man was leading the parade of light.
Then, a voice: "Foolish Fated, he stays."
The Spirits trembled, they knew of this blight:
It was the decree of The Forest Maze.

The man did not waver; his soul was not spent.
But the voice continued: "Go in different ways,
And try as you will, but without my consent,
You shall never escape The Forest Maze."

The man wasn't bothered; he'd keep his word,
And the Lost knew he'd try, so, in multiple arrays
Of light, they pierced through the trees onward
And guided the brave man out of The Forest Maze.

In chorus, they sang: "A waste, would it be
To let you fade here, as time's phase.
No, we shall let you leave Dark Eternity,
And those like you shall be free from The Forest Maze."

And so he left. But wanderers beware!
In your journey across, do not laze.
For if you lose what your hearts bear,
Then you shall join the Fated of The Forest Maze.
Hi guys. Now you're all asking: "WHAT THE HECK!?"

Yes, I WRITE!! AND IT'S A BALLAD!! 8D (this was for a course I'm taking called "Writer's Craft". It was evaluted, along with 4 other poems...I got a good grade on this~)

So...Where do I start?

INSPIRATION: Well, to be honest, when I first started working on the ballad, I had NO clue what to write about. So, naturally, I stated to listen to some music. ('cuz every song holds a story, right?)
So, I got some fairly decent ideas, but none were truly "the one". That is, until this song played: [link]
...You guys know that SMRPG has a special place in my heart. Especially this song.
I remember just going to this level as a kid, pausing the game, and listenning to this song for as long as I can before somebody came into the room and told me to "stop being an idiot", XD.
I got "lost" in those woods, man. And so, with some nostalgia, paired up with my crazyness, this was born~.

DIFFICULY: Well, once I found the song, the rest flowed, 8].
Sure, it was a little hard to find rhymes for "maze", but not that much, XD. And the story? I let the song guide me on that one~. (so...improvised, I guess, XD)

DO I LIKE IT: ...what do you think? Ok, normally, when I do ANYTHING, I'm not pleased with it at first. I get the sence that it's missing something, but the work usually ends up growing on me. But this...I loved it right of the bat~. I'm soooo proud of this ballad. And I personnally think I've gotten a liking to ballads in general now, XD. Maybe I'll write another sometime~.

Well, that's it, I guess...(unless you want to read so much your eyes bleed, XD)

But, still, I love this, but I'm certain I can still improve! So comments, suggestions and critique are requested here! Please and thank you~.

Anyway, ENJOY THIS!! Because, I sure do~. (you're awesome if you read all this, XD)
